Geocache Description:

Welcome to the former town of Marston, ON!

This is my first cache and I am dedicating it to the area that I grew up and which I hold so many great memories.

You are standing in Marston Cemetery which, like so many cemetaries in this area, is the only surviving remnant of the hamlet that once stood here.

This hamlet was once a fully functioning community, which had a school, 2 churches, hotel, and cheese factory (no lie!).

If you’d like to learn more about the very interesting communities that once existed in the Township of North Walsingham (which is where you are right now), the book to read is called the Tweedsmuir History of North Walsingham and it was commissioned by the Langton Women’s Institute. I believe there are copies available at certain branches of the Norfolk County Public Library (visit link) or at the Eva Brook Donly Museum and Archives in Simcoe (visit link) .

Please make sure you close the lid tightly.

PLEASE park at these parking coordinates (N42 41.563 W080 37.623). Please don’t park in any private drives or drive through the cemetary (there is no longer a fence preventing this). We want to respect our neighbours, both living and deceased.

Thanks for coming all the way out to this very-seldom-seen part of the world!
