This cache is dedicated to Ikars from Priekule.
Ikars from Priekule was son of a manor houses blacksmith. He dared to make wings and keep up in the air like a bird. There isn’t any precise information about the time period of those happenings. One of the stories betokens it could be around 1705. A man, who dared on this heresy, was a serf called Edas Varacepla blacksmith. In some sources this blacksmith is known as Swedish-Johansson. Another history sources betoken that this flight was made earlier – already in 1670 and blacksmith was flying down from Priekules Castle (not from the Church) by waving the wings which were tied to his hands. In one more source we can read that in 1684 after the Easter Celebration at third Sunday some Edas Varacepla blacksmith from Priekules manor house tried to start flying by ignoring the objections of Grobinas kapitan. The same fact can be found on the popular work “Pan Tvardovski” written by Polish – Lithuanian classic J. Kraševskis. So, we can come to conclusion that blacksmith was really trying to fly and this isn’t only a legend or tale.
It’s recommended to use a vehicle on finding this cache. Considering the distances, it could take a lot of time.
