Geocache Description:

St Mary the Virgin, Sutton Valence
There has been a settlement in Sutton Valence since at least Roman times, and a church is recorded in the Domesday Book. The current church has a steeple on its north side and this once had a high spire but the upper half was burnt down by lightning; that’s why it now has a flat top, secured with lead. In fact, in 1823 the whole church was in a state of collapse and extensive work was needed to bring it back into full working condition again by 1874. Improvements continue right up to the modern day.

If any body would like to expand to this series please do, I would just ask that you could let Sadexploration know first so he can keep track of the Church numbers and names to avoid duplication
