Time for a cleanup! The Wisconsin Geocaching Association (WGA) and
the Friends of Scenic Lodi Valley are proud to co-sponsor Gibraltar
Rock's Second Annual CITO Geocaching event! (What is CITO?) This
regional event will be held Saturday, April 16th 2011 at Gibraltar
Rock State Natural Area, in Lodi, WI. From Lodi, go north on State
Highway 113 four miles, then west on County V one mile, then south
on Gibraltar Rock Road 0.2 mile to a parking area N 43° 20.920 W
089° 36.030 where we will check in. Your event hosts are Lions Fan
Larry, 08 Rock Lady, & Barnum and Bailey. Supplies, food,
drink, and prizes are being provided by the Wisconsin Geocaching
Association and the Friends of Scenic Lodi Valley.
The CITO will begin at the parking lot at 10:00am Saturday morning.
There is parking available at the park entrance. Limited bathroom
facilities are available and are not handicapped accessible.
Schedule:
10:00 am - Gather at the parking lot for opening
announcements.
After that - CITO! Base camp will remain open for water and
supplies.
11:00am Diane Pillsbury, State Naturalist from Devil's Lake State
Park will give presentation on Gibraltar Rock.
Noon - regroup for potluck lunch.
1:00 pm - Door prizes. Must be present to win!
1:30 pm - Group Pictures and recycling sorting.
2:00pm Commencement.
What to bring:
Heavy Duty Work Gloves
Walking stick or poking apparatus. One with a nail on the end is
nice for trash pickup.
Safety vest for visibility and safety glasses if you desire
Shoes / boots that can get muddy
Clothing for possible inclement weather (long sleeves, pants,
layers)
A friend who wants to learn about geocaching, having fun, cleaning
up parks, meeting new people, etc.
Food for lunch.
your own reusable plates, napkins, plastic utensils, and cups to
reduce the impact on the environment.
A last name potluck strategy will be used:
LAST NAME A-H: desserts or sweets
LAST NAME I-P: salad, fruit, or vegetables
LAST NAME Q-Z: chips, crackers or other crunchies!
Deli sandwich bar & condiments will be provided for all who
participate in the CITO.
Please post a cache note or use the "will attend" to indicate what
type of dish you are bringing to pass so we can all balance it out.
