Het Stenenpad, een
reis door de tijd.
Zou je graag meer willen weten over
de ontwikkeling van onze aarde?
Een wandeling langsheen 32
rotsblokken van het Stenenpad vertellen meer dan 500 miljoen jaar
aardgeschiedenis.

Het stenenpad ligt vlak voor het
bezoekerscentrum, begin je wandeling op: N50°57.444
E5°32.196
Kijk eens rond en leer meer over de
constant beweging van de aardkorst dewelke steen veranderd en
verplaatst.
De stenen zijn afkomstig uit diverse
Belgische steengroeven, sommige werden uit de Eifel aangevoerd en
enkele mooie exemplaren zijn afkomstig van Limburg. Ze getuigen van
verschillende geologische tijdperken in de complexe
ontstaansgeschiedenis van de Belgische en Limburgse
ondergrond.

Hoe deze
EarthCache loggen:
Het Stenenpad is ontworpen om
leerzaam te zijn, net al een EarthCache. Maak een wandeling en zoek de
antwoorden op onderstaande vragen.
1) Ga naar het infobord op N50°57.435
E5°32.190. Optioneel: post een foto van jezelf of een teamlid bij
je log.
2) Zoek op het infobord de EON waar dit
alles zich afspeelt.
3) Zoek op het infobord de stenen uit de
het CARBOON periode.
4) Op hetzelfde infobord, van/tot
hoeveel mijoen jaar geleden was de CENOZOICUM era?
5) Zoek de SLIJPSTEEN en meet de hoogte.
Optioneel: post een foto van jezelf of een teamlid bij je
log.
6) Zoek de KLOKSTEEN en meet de omtrek
van de grootste. Optioneel: post een foto van jezelf of een teamlid
bij je log.
7) Zoek het KWARTSIET, tel het aantal blokken en noteer
hun verschillende kleuren.
8) Op welke steen vind je de
fossielstructuren van Picture 1?
9) Zoek de periode van de LEISTEEN and
van/tot hoeveel miljoen jaren geleden was deze periode.
10) Zoek de steen van Picture 2, noteer
zijn naam en zoek naar zijn periode op het infobord.
Mail me je antwoorden via mijn
profiel alvorens je log te posten op de GC website, na goedkeuring
mag je loggen.
Logs zonder toelating zullen
zonder verwittiging verwijderd worden.
Foto’s bij je log zij optioneel
maar erg gewaardeerd om je aanwezigheid te plekke te bevestigen,
het is zeker de moeite waard.

rock path, a journey through time.
Would you like to
know more about the story of the development of our earth?
More than 500
million years of the history of the Earth is available on a walk
past rocks on the rock path where 32 blocks of rock are
telling you their history.

The rock
path is in front of the visitors centre entrance; you can
start your walk at: N50°57.444 E5°32.196
Have a look and learn more about the constant movement of the
earth's crust which transforms, changes and moves rock.
The rock comes from various Belgian stone quarries, some came from
as far as the Eifel and some beautiful specimens are from Limburg.
They show the various geological eras from the complex genesis of
the Belgian and Limburg subsoils.

How to log this
EarthCache:
As this Rock Path
is meant to be educational and so is an EarthCache; take a walk and
look for the answers to the following questions:
1) Go to the infopanel at
N50°57.435 E5°32.190. Optional: take a picture with yourself or a
team member beside it.
2) On the infopanel search for
the EON where all this happens.
3) On the same infopanel, search
for the rocks of the CARBOON period.
4) Still on the infopanel,
from/to how many million years ago was the CENOZOICUM
era?
5) Go to the SLIJPSTEEN and
measure it’s height. Optional: take a picture with yourself
or a team member beside it.
6) Search for the KLOKSTEEN and
measure the largest one’s circumference. Optional:
take a picture with
yourself or a team member beside it.
7) Search for the KWARTSIET and
count the rocks and take note of their colors.
8) On witch rock can you find the
fossil structures on Picture 1?
9) Search for period of the
LEISTEEN and from/to how many million years ago was
this?
10) Search for the rock on Picture
2 and take note of it’s name, and search for it’s
period on the infopanel.
