A esta cache foi dado o nome de Semana do Mar em honra a essa grande semana que é popular entre muitos Geocachers Madeirenses que conheço.

This cache was given the name of Semana do Mar (Week of the sea) in honor of this great week that is popular among many Geocachers in Madeira.



Já considerada uma tradição no concelho da vila do Porto Moniz, a Semana do Mar decorre no mês de Julho e assinala o início do Verão.

Already considered a tradition in the village of Porto Moniz, the Semana do Mar takes place in July and marks the beginning of summer.
 


É o mais importante evento anual do Porto Moniz e atrai milhares de visitantes.

It is the most important annual event in Porto Moniz and attracts thousands of visitors.
 

Durante uma semana, a vila serve de palco a diversos jogos náuticos - incluindo regatas de canoas e caiaques -, competições desportivas e animação de vária índole com equipas de todos os concelhos da Região.

During one week, the Village serves as a stage to several nautical games - including canoeing and kayaking - sports competitions and entertainment of various kinds with teams from every county in the island.



Grupos de folclore e de música tradicional madeirense também aqui se apresentam, alegrando o programa de festas.

Groups of folklore and traditional music from Madeira are also presented here, cheering the holiday program.



A Semana do Mar é também uma oportunidade para hastear a Bandeira Azul nas piscinas municipais, símbolo da qualidade da água.

The Semana do Mar is also an opportunity to fly the Blue Flag in municipal pools, the symbol of water quality.
