GadgetCats: Da var tiden inne for å la våre cacher i Solbakkefjellet rundt gå i arkivet. Det er simpelthen ikke nok interesse til å forsvare tiden og energien som må til for å holde dem ved like. Takk for alle funn!

Geocache Description:

Solbakkefjellet rundt

A Multi-owner Geotrail

Welcome to “Solbakkefjellet rundt”, Bergen's first powertrail. Unlike many other powertrails, this one is a joint effort between numerous cache owners, and has been built over some time. The first cache was published on February 11th 2011, and the roundtrip was completed when cache no. 103 was published on March 10th 2012.

With this in mind, please beware that the caches in this trail come in many different forms, you will find both lock'n'lock boxes, bison tubes, petlings and nanos. Please use DNF and NM where needed, so we can fix any problem quickly.

Cache overview
The roundtrip is approx. 21 km (13 mi), of which most is along interconnected secondary roads. The last 6 caches are alongside the E39.

You are strongly encouraged to do this trail by bike. The road is narrow and winding at times, and suitable parking spots are provided for each cache listing, should you still insist on using a car. Please use them.

The first 9 km (until #042) leg is quite flat and easy to do by bike. The next 3 km (until #051) leg is a quite steep climb from an altitude of 75 m amsl to just over 300, an average climb of 7.5%, but onwards from there, it's downhill most of the time until the roundtrip is complete.

Elevation profile
Elevation profile. We recommend doing the roundtrip in ascending order, but it is of course possible to do it backwards. Although be warned, you then start off with a 9 km almost continuous climb!

The whole roundtrip will take many hours to complete, depending on your shape and caching style. Please share details about your roundtrip time and caching style in your #001 log, to assist subsequent cachers' planning!

Also, please be considerate about the cache size when logging. Avoid logging with stamps or stickers on nano strips or bison rolls.

For your convenience, a bookmark list with all 103 caches is available here. You can create a pocket query from the bookmark list to get fresh logs and cache statuses.

Have a nice trip!
