Geocache Description:

A variation on the theme ... the last train departed a long time ago! The cache is an offset with a field puzzle. All stages are along the former railway line, about 1km walk in total (incl. return).

Conder Green was a station on the Glasson Dock branch line that opened in 1883. The line ran out off Lancaster station along the River Lune. Passenger services were in operation only until 1930, and goods traffic continued until 1964. After dismantling of the line, it was reclaimed as the Lune Coastal Path in 1991, and became part of the National Cycle Network in 2000.

At the published coordinates you'll find remains of a level crossing, vis-a-vis the "Cafe de Lune". There is nothing hidden at this first stage, it's just a starting point to search for the next stage.

To find stage 2, have a look at this photo of a train steaming through Conder Green:

Now your task is to locate where the photo was taken from. In the modern-day view, you'll find a solitary tree on the right hand bank in front of you. The tree marks stage 2. Nothing hidden here either, it's just a landmark from where to set your sights on the final, 397m at 1.5º.
