Geocache Description:

The Grid Challenge Series  Caches

The Grid Challenge Series involves Caches throughout the Portland Metro Area and utilizes the 2010 Thomas Map Guide of Portland.  It is a 4.5 Star/4.5 Star Cache because of its difficulty and the time you will invest to complete it.  Reading all the directions before you attempt to “Log” this Cache is advisable to keep from the axing of your log, just joking.(Threats  I  hate.)

This Cache is based around "The Thomas Guide Portland Metro 2010" edition grids and has a macro for GSAK to loaded and coincides with the following series:

Grid Challenge Macro
Vancouver Grid Challenge GC212WH
Portland Thomas Guide 2008 Challenge GC19RXB
Portland Vancouver Thomas Guide Metro Area 2010 GC2NFBX

General Requirements
This Geocache GC2NFBX  is in place at the above coordinates but can only be logged by those cachers that have posted a public profile using the above macro utilizing GASK Find Stat Generator with the associated map for this cache or bookmarked to this page each cache fufilling the pages they are claiming and emailed a copy of the gpx with the caches fufilling the challenge to the CO email address to be verfied prior to logging.  You must read this geocache information page for all the requirements to complete before claiming the find. When you have met the requirements, e-mail the cache owner at their profile on geocaching.com and request verification that the conditions for seeking this cache have been met refering to the method used either the map or gpx file.

This Cache has no time limit however, if you totally complete this challenge you will have seen a tremendous amount of the Portland metro area while enjoying a lot of caching too.

Specific Requirements
To Claim a “find” for this Geocache you will need to:

1.  Use, or have access to(at a local library), “The Thomas Guide Portland Street Guide 2010” and find a Cache on every or even easier use the mentioned Macro & map combination Grid Challenge Macro. Note: even with an old edition you can easily tell the missing grids if compared to "Baradam's Profile" that shows the macro map.

2.  Geocache published on geocaching.com is eligible for a find if it meets all the other requirements of the Thomas Challenge.  There is no date limit, any Geocaches that you have ever Found that meet the listed requirements count toward the completion of this Challenge.  If the Geocache that you claim has been archived, your provision of the GC number in the gpx file is adequate proof that it was a valid Geocache.

3. Every grid in the 2010 Guide must have atleast one cache found in it including those in the Vancouver, Washington Area as a special allowance with permission from the CO and only if there is a grid that has less than 10 caches in it to further the sport you may plant your own cache and claim the grid however this must be prior approved.

4. When you have completed this Challenge, notify the Geocache Owner at the e-mail address found on the appropriate geocaching.com profile page, that your results are posted either in your profile using the Macro & map of GSAK with your link or you have created public bookmark and attached the gpx file containing the caches for verification.

5. Once your verification is complete, you may find and log “The Portland Thomas Map Challenge” at the above provided coordinates.  That verification is only valid for the Geocacher that submits a valid claim which is verified and not for anyone else that may accompany the verified Geocacher to the Final Cache.  In other words, only one logging per verification, and others will disappear into siber space just as they appeared.

6. Please check back to this Cache Page for Updates prior to submitting your claim for validation to Owner for Review.  Geocache Owner reserves the right to clarify/add/alter Requirements based on problems or issues.  It wouldn’t hurt to check every  so often just so you don’t have to redo something.  All modifications to the requirements will be issued in red for a period of 4 months which may include clarifications or limitations.

The 4.5/4.5 rating of this cache is based on the time, effort and difficulty of completing all the requirements necessary to log this cache. This Thomas Challenge should be fun and I am counting on the Honor System for sticking to the rules.

Thank you very much for respecting these rules.  The intent is to have fun and for the competitors to be accomplishing the same tasks and enjoy the sport. Geocaching is an honor sport even though we sign logs and similar it is a personal assessment.  Other than providing the required map and gpx all other validation is of personal assessment. The object of this cache is a personal challenge to complete it and provide a goal for those that enjoy accomplishment. The CO is not a geocop looking for violators but just wish to add to the geocaching experience. Enjoy and have a lot of geo-fun!!!

Congrats PDXJim for FTF
