Geocache Description:

The CDC Cyber 70 Series replaced the CDC 6400, CDC 6600 and CDC 7600. Mostly they were a rebranding of the 6600 and 7600 but the low end machine, the Cyber 73 got several new instructions in the form of the Compare/Move Unit (CMU) which facilitated character processing. Yes, there was a COBOL compiler. Some of my buddies worked on it but I focused on FORTRAN.

The CDC software development facility here at 5101 Patrick Henry was the place software development for compilers and data management software took place. It's just up the road from the cache location. Three other caches prevent placing this hide any closer. Black Phoebe Lake cache is right behind the 5101 building -- out where we used to have lunch al fresco.

The cache is a camoed bison tube. As usual, be sure to put the cache back properly so the next GCer can have fun with hunt. Congratulations to TgrrLili for FTF.
