All my caches have been OWL themed as set in around the area of
Owlsmoor, which is a small suburb of Sandhurst in Berkshire.
Owlsmoor itself is a fairly self contained community with a small
parade of containing five shops and one dentist, but if
that’s not enough within a small drive there are two more
parades of shops in College Town and Central Sandhurst. Central
Sandhurst and Owlsmoor also share a Doctors practise with one
surgery just next to each parade. There are Post Offices in each
parade and a library in Central Sandhurst. Not bad for a small area
with no huge shopping mall! Nestled in the corner of the counties
Berkshire, Surrey and Hampshire and within easy distance of four
more including our capital London Sandhurst is nowadays split into
four very habitable areas. These areas are Owlsmoor (cache area),
College town, Little Sandhurst and Central Sandhurst but years ago
the whole area was forests, fields and farms, with manors dotted
around and highwaymen dotting around. I managed to find eight areas
that still have their farm names; these were Sandhurst Farm,
Snaprails, Caves Farm, Ambarrow Farm, College Farm, Rectory Farm,
Beech Farm and Rackstraw Farm. Some of the older existing buildings
in the area are the churches. We have four main churches in the
area, St Michaels, The Baptist Church, Wesleyan Methodist and
Owlsmoors very new St Georges. The churches play an important part
of the area they are in and work well together with the local
school, of which we have six, St Michaels C of E, Old Scotland
Hill, The Methodist, College Town, Uplands and Owlsmoor are all
primary schools and Sandhurst School in Owlsmoor is our secondary
school. For the more athletic residents we have many parks,
sporting areas and sporting clubs, the biggest being Sandhurst Town
Football club which is based at Sandhurst Memorial Park. The
Memorial park is a huge area with about over eight football pitches
of varying sizes for children of most ages and even adults as we
also have at least one Vets team who recently played against the
Arsenal Celebrity team. A good day was had by all that nicely
finished in the local club house enjoying a cold beer. This brings
me nicely to the last and some may say most important subject which
is our pubs. We have nine pubs in the local area including an old
one which was once owned by Simmonds Brewery of Reading who
famously many years ago supplied ale to the Royal Military, which
Sandhurst is probably most famous for. Assuming you need an N
coordinate and a W000 coordinate you should now find yourself
overlooking another of Berkshires famous buildings. The cache is
within 10ft of you now.
