"Go outside, get into nature and make your own discoveries!"
That is what Dr. Scott challenges his viewers to do at the end of each Dinosaur Train episode. In support of this call to action, The Jim Henson Company has hidden Dinosaur Train themed geocaches nationwide with the help of local PBS stations and geocachers. To find the location of other Dinosaur Train themed geocaches, simply search for "Dinosaur Train" in the keyword search option or check out this list of Dinosaur Train Geocaches.
Each geocache celebrates a dinosaur featured in the Dinosaur Train Field Guide on the PBS Kids website. This geocache, however, is a little different. It is the Paleontologist geocache. A paleontologist is a scientist who studies paleontology, learning about the forms of life that existed in former geologic periods, chiefly by studying fossils. Dr. Scott Sampson is the paleontology consultant on Dinosaur Train and is featured in the live action segments on the show.
What is your favorite type of Scientist? Be sure to tell us when signing the logbook!
Cache is located on the Na Ala Hele: Judd Trail and is designed for the more outdoorsy children. It is a short hike from trailhead, but the trail can be muddy and you do have to cross a small stream. Use the waypoints below to help navigate your way in. Like most places on this island there will be mosquitoes, so come prepared. Please Do NOT leave any valuables in your car!
Once again, to find this cache solve the simple equations below using the "Special Numbers" found in my other Dinosaur Train Geocaches.
N 21 20.(700 + Brachiosaurus + Giganotosaurus)
W 157 49.(316 - Tyrannosaurus - Velociraptor)
