Dans le doux vallonnement de l'ouest du Périgord
Saint Aulaye fait partie du département de la Dordogne, en bordure
de celui de la Charente, en région Aquitaine.
Château de saint Aulaye : Ce château a
probablement été reconstruit au VIIIe. Dans sa lutte contre les
Normands, Vulgrin Comte du Périgord et d'Angoumois, le renforce à
la fin du IXe. Il devient forteresse au XIIe siècle. Au XIIIe
Pierre de Bremond y ajoute la Bastide comtale. La tour ouest est le
dernier vestige du château fort du moyen-âge .
Ce bâtiment a été transformé au XVIe. Au XIXe siècle le professeur
Viault le remet au goût de jour, le néo-gothique.
A partir du milieu du XXe siècle, la municipalité l'utilise comme
Hôtel de Ville.
Le vieux pont : Ce pont a-t-il été construit
sous Dagobert le dernier unificateur du royaume des Francs, sous
Abd-ere-Rhamân le Maure ou sous Charles Martel son vainqueur
?
A moins qu'il ne faille attendre les premiers Carolingiens avec
Pépin roi des francs à la fin du VIIIe siècle.
Ce pont enjambant la Risonne est bâti sur des monolithes que l'on
aperçoit toujours. Il permet l'accès au moulin.

Four banaux : A proximité de la porte Nord,
celle d'Aubeterre et de l'Angoumois, se trouve la rue des fours
banaux. Au bas de cette rue subsiste encore un four dans une maison
de la commune.
La cache : Boite Rectangulaire transparente
hermétique de 17cm x 10cm hauteur 7cm inférieur. Son contenu notice
de cache imprimée géocaching, journal de bord, 1 stylo, 3 objets
pour échange.

In the soft foothills of the west of Périgord Saint
Aulaye belongs to the department of the Dordogne, in edge of that
of Charente, in Aquitaine area.
Castle of saint Aulaye : This castle was
probably rebuilt in VIIIe. In its fight against the Norman ones,
Vulgrin Count of Périgord and Angoumois, reinforces it at the end
of IXe.
It becomes fortress in XIIe century. To XIIIe Pierre de Bremond the
Country house comtale adds to it. The western tower is the last
vestige of the strong castle of the Middle Ages.
This building was transformed in XVIe. At the XIXe century
professor Viault gives it to the taste of day, the
neo-gothic.
From the middle of the XXe century, the municipality uses it like
Town hall.
The old bridge : This bridge was it built
under Dagobert the last unifier of the kingdom of Frank, under
Abd-era-Rhamân the Moor or Charles Martel his winner?
Unless one should not await the first Carolingians with Pip king of
frank at the end of VIIIe century. This bridge spanning Risonne is
built on monoliths which one always sees. It gives access to the
mill.

Fours Banaux : Near the Northern door, that
of Aubeterre and Angoumois, is the street of the communal ovens.
With the bottom of this street still a furnace in a house of the
commune remains.
