The displayed coordinates are near the front of Daisen Kofun
(Nintoku-ryo Tumulus). There is a model of Daisen Kofun and its
accompanying small tumuli, however, the physical cache is not
there. You need to solve a puzzle to get the final coordinates.
Mozu Kofun Group is a group of Japanese old tumuli (kofun) located
in Sakai City. Several large tumuli includes Daisen Kofun are
belong to this group, and totally about 50 tumuli are remains,
though the same number of tumuli were destroyed in the city
development.
Kofun are graves of powerful families’ persons in Japan. You
may notice the feature of the shape of tumulus like a keyhole. This
type of tumuli are indigenous to Japan and most of large scale
tumuli are this type. The round part of a tumulus is the main part
where a dead person is buried. The trapezoidal or rectangle part is
thought that its origin is an alter or a road access to the grave.
Several variations of the rectangle parts are known (ex.
1,
ex. 2). Tumuli which have very small rectangle parts are called
“scallop-shell shaped kofun”.
The cache is hidden near a keyhole shaped kofun belongs to Mozu
Kofun Group. The coordinates (like DD MM.MMM) are encrypted into
the figure below.
