Geocache Description:

THERE IS NO ACCESS FROM THE M1

SO DO NOT ATTEMPT IT

Welcome to Hartwell which seemed to be a bit empty of caches so we decided to rectify the situation.

This is an easy cache & dash, one of a number around the village, sorry they are all nanos.

The village has a population of approximately 1,800 people (and most of them pass this spot walking their dogs, so be warned).

This is a historic village whose existence dates back to the Middle Ages at the south of the current village is the original village site, where a medieval chapel dedicated to St. John the Baptist survived until the mid 19th century. By the mid 16th century the original village had been entirely deserted and its site absorbed into a single farmstead named Chapel Farm.

The oldest surviving buildings in Hartwell all date from the 17th or early 18th century and are built of coursed rubble limestone.
