Geocache Description:

This is a two-mile walk around Chapin Forest Reservation.

This cache has been permitted by Lake Metroparks. The permit for this cache is valid through 9/1/2011.




This is a four-stage multi located in one of the super gems of the Lake Metroparks. The cache will involve uphill climbs and a walk in excess of two miles. To park for this cache, please use the Chapin Forest entrance on Route 306. Drive to the end of the park road. You will see parking on your left with a shelter across the road. This is the best parking for this cache. Please note, LMP closes this road during snowy months so you will need to park at the lot closest to Route 306 during snowy weather. This will make your complete walk about 3 1/2 miles. PLEASE stay on the trails until you are close to the cache. All stages of this cache are located close to trails. Please do not bushwhack.

Chapin Forest Reservation is a 390-acre park which Lake County was able to lease from the State of Ohio Department of Forestry. It has over 5 miles of trails and is a four-season destination for east siders as one of the most popular cross country skiing spots in NE Ohio. It is also a good birding spot in season. The park has interesting history including visible remnants of the days when it was a stone quarry used to help build nearby Kirtland. Take some time and enjoy your surroundings. This is a great park.
