We were out in the backcountry again doing a little caching (what else?) and exploring. Of course Mrs TE couldn’t go on a long hike in one of our favorite areas without planting a cache. There wasn’t any water in the washes this time, but it is still a beautiful area.
While planning the outing, Mrs TE first “explored” Google Earth to find an interesting area when she noticed that the satellite may have captured a couple of deer in this particular spot. It may be just rock formations. Did the satellite really take a picture of deer? Or not? Let us know what you think when you get back.
Recommended route is to park a vehicle at N32 17.902 W110 43.848 at Horsehead Trl. Then drive another vehicle up to Molina Basin parking area at N32 20.243 W110 41.460 and hike the 10plus mi loop. It’s mostly downhill except for the first half mi. Remember you'll need a Mt Lemmon Pass to park at Molina Basin.
Or you can take the shortest route of approx 7.5 mi & park at Molina Basin. Hike in and then turn around and go back out the way you came … a lot of uphill climbing. (If you are RS, you may want to start at “The Lake” & come in that way.) In any case, be sure to check your route for other caches along the way so you can add your smiley on them too. We even have a few puzzle caches somewhere out there.
Thanks to Greasepot for the maintenance on the container in March of 2022. I considered changing the "size" of the container, but "small" is about the size of an apple and "regular" is about the size of a shoebox ... neither of which fits my image of the new one Greasepot put out for us. So I just left the size at "small" Have fun out there & hope to see y'all on the trail someday.
