Geocache Description:

  • Cache adopted by mtbikeroz on February 5 2018.
Thanks rbirtles, glad to keep this iconic Canberra cache alive. Keep working everyone, I know many of you are close. Looking forward to some/many found logs. MBO. The text below is predominately left as rbirtles had it originally.

  • Do you like working towards a goal?
  • Do you want to try something different?
  • Do you want to be challenged both physically and mentally?

As of November 2010 I have listed below the 10 most hardest or recommended caches within the Traditional, Multi and Puzzle cache categories. Ok, for some you may have different views on which being the hardest but I have down my dandiest to choose the most challenging and/or rewarding that I am aware of through research and via the secret chatter, whispered tones of fear and chest thumping pride of the local Canberran caching community.

The cache is found at the above co-ordinates.

The challenge of this cache is to log ALL of the 10 hardest caches within the ACT relating to the 3 categories below.

Logging this cache:
Once the caches are all logged as finds, you must send me (mtbikeroz) a list of the dates logged so I can verify them. I will verify each find and logs will be deleted if all the listed caches below are not found prior to logging this cache.
Alternatively, to save time and tooing and froing emails, please feel free to list the caches and the dates you found them, in your found log. This arrangement seemed to have worked OK in some other Canberra Challenge caches. eg, GC6X3NX - 77.7% recurring mystery challenge, and GC7212X - Canberra's Second Toughest Challenge. Then, if all is OK, good. If there is a problem (unlikely because we all like a genuine challenge), then I can contact you.

.

If you happen to be the cache owner of a cache listed below you can claim it as a find for the purpose of this challenge. Well, you did get to GZ to place the cache, come up with the devious puzzle, design the multi stages in the first place...

Yes, for some this challenge may be easy to complete, but the goal of this challenge is to get cachers out there to the more magnificent places of the A.C.T. Plan and research your trips well. Bring along a friend or two at the least, a phone (although may not always be of use) and suitable provisions to look after yourself.

The list of caches will be updated in case of any being archived. If you have already logged a cache that has become archived you will need to log or have logged the newly listed cache.

At the time this cache was published it contained 8 Corroberee Frog Geotags. The first 8 cachers that have met the requirements of this Challenge are entitled to take a geotag (one only please) for their own keeping. I will contact you to organise the adoption process to your name. And yes, a Pathtag is currently being designed for this challenge. Not that I expect too many will be given out.

Cachers are very welcome to place a log note detailing their progress towards completing this challenge. Good luck!

Amendments due to caches being Archived or other reason

28 November, 2010 - Life's Not Black and White (by SecretSquirrel-BJC - GC1PFQ6 - Archived) replaced by Tealby's Revenge.... (by Tealby - GC1HH1H)

5 Feb, 2018 - Assimilate (A.C.T. Investigate) (by mtbikeroz - GC11Q3A) replaced by Better a witty fool than a foolish wit. (by O319 – GC1XXA2). Reducing the over-abundance of my caches to give a fellow ACT/Qbyn cacher a cache in this list. (Note: for those that have found GC11Q3A - Assimilate, prior to 5 Feb 2018, That's fine, I'll accept the find.) (Also, I note, as of 5 Feb 2018, the 3 finders of this cache have ALSO found the cache Better a witty fool than a foolish wit. (by O319 – GC1XXA2), AND, several of the current seekers of this cache have found witty too.) .

.

13 November 2023 - Due to the cache GININ FALLS (#7 traditional above, GC2G23C) being excessively difficult to get to now, especially since the 2 wet La-Nina years of 2010-2011, and ESPECIALLY the 3 wet La-Nina years of 2020-2022, AND, many aborted attempts, logged and not logged, to try and get to the falls, AND, having checked it out myself with StarsAlign & SocialClimber in Nov 2023, I have decided to offer an alternative for the GININI Falls cache. NOT a replacement, but an alternative.
SO, you can now do either the GININI FALLS cache OR the Squirrel's Greater ROCK Cache (GC37J44) as the #7 Traditional.
NOTE: The Project-GC check function may not pick up this "alternative", so you may need to do the project-GC function and see its results, and/or check manually. Have fun everyone.

.

Remember, this cache cannot be logged until all 30 caches have been successfully found.
