This cache is the first in a series
of 5 invasive plant-themed caches placed around parks in Northern
Virginia. You will also need to jot down the clue from each cache
to find a final cache, Raiders of the Lost Park
GC2JE3B.
Invasive exotic species include plants and organisms that have
been introduced into an environment. Such species take over native
species changing native areas.
Hedera helix, commonly known as English Ivy covers the forest
floor in many neighborhoods. When ivy climbs trees it limits a
tree's ability to produce leaves to sustain itself. Once it
flowers, it spreads seeds all over the forest squeezing out native
plants that normally would be there.
Thanks to Reston Association for allowing placement of
this cache and assisting with placement.
Please be respectful to residential areas and do not
search these caches after dark. Avoid any unnecessary bushwhacking
in the natural areas and stay on the trails while hunting these
caches. Replace each cache exactly as found or better to make it
fun for the next finder.
Send me a note if the cache needs
maintenance.
Be sure to
grab the clue for Raiders of the Lost Park! Remember, it's all
about the journey...
Most containers in this series are unique and handmade.
Please take care to replace them exactly as found to keep it fun
for future finders.
