Au pays de Retournes-Toi! Traditional Geocache

 

 

La Montagne Thiernoise n'est qu'une succession de panoramas à couper le souffle et de petits villages mignons comme tout où les poules traversent la route juste sous vos roues (oui, Prudent-Morel, c'est toi que je regarde ^^) et les vaches se moquent de vous. La route qui relie Saint-Rémy-sur-Durolle à Thiers (actuelle D 201) était surnommée, au XIX' siècle route de "retournes-toi" (traduction du patois local), car tout ce que l'on avait envie de faire, quand on montait sur St-Rémy, c'était de se retourner pour profiter de la vue. On peut comprendre pourquoi...

 

Ici, comme à de nombreux endroits le long du bord du Forez, le phénomène se répète (tout particulièrement au retour de votre ballade, vous verrez, l'envie est irrésistible)

The Mountains behind the town of Thiers are mostly about breathtaking vistas, cute little hamlets, stupid chickens that cross the road right under your carwheels and cows that looks like they are mocking you.

The road that links Thiers and Saint-Rémy sur Durolle used to be known as the "look behind you" road (translated from local patois), because, whenever you were going in the direction of the east, the only thing you wanted to do was turn around and look at the view.

 

Actually, the whole mountain should have been called like that !! The path you will follow to find the cache is another example of this phenomenon that you will experience on the way back to the parking area...
