The Königstuhl or "Kings seat", is a 567 meter high mountain in the Odenwald and rises above the city of Heidelberg in the German state of Baden-Wuerttemberg. The area provides a panoramic views West from the top of Heidelberg mountain of the Rhein Neckar Valley.
The Königstuhl summit allows visitors a spectacular view of the city of Heidelberg and the Neckar River as it flows westward to meet with the Rhein River in Mannheim. Hence we have the Rhein-Neckar Valley. On clear days you can see all the way west to the Pfaelzerwald (Palatinate Forest), about 50 kilometers (approx. 31 miles) away. The mountain is linked to Kornmarkt (Corn Market), in Heidelberg's old town or Altstadt, by the Heidelberger Bergbahn, a two-section historic (sort of a streetcar) railway that stops at the Heidelberg Castle, located on the lower slopes of the Königstuhl. Close by is the Märchenparadies Heidelberg which is a hillside park with pavilions depicting fairy tales; characters, plus play areas for kids. The area also has several wooded walking/hiking trails. A terrain of 1.5 is given because the last 30 meters before the cache is a wooded trail. Happy Hunting.
