Geocache Description:

The posted co-ordinates have absolutely nothing to do with this cache. I don't recommend going to them.

The main goal of this cache is to fulfil one of my geocaching ambitions - to place a true difficulty 5 cache. As I don't really believe that my last cache, Edsel's Auto, accomplished that goal, I've decided to take another stab at it.

This cache isn't just inspired by my ambition to create a difficulty 5 cache, but that is the reason for its exact layout. It incorporates my favourite cache type (the Letterbox-Hybrid) into the first puzzle, one of my favourite binthairs and an element of a ve2ogh cache into the third, and makes use of at least three of my own cache ideas. Those three are a Letterbox that takes you through Edsel's neighbourhood, the piece of public art on the University of Ottawa's campus that reminds me of Yr Eisteddfod, and of course the final location of the cache - a spot I have been eyeing for a while. If this helps in any way, the final hide is a copy of my favourite of my hide styles.

I see that I forgot to put a dire warning on this cache, as I have my other caches, however I will do that now. This is not intended to be a Google Street View cache. At the very least, I intended for finders to at least do the letterboxing portion on foot. Though I can't delete logs over the matter, you will be subject to much public ridicule.

To find this cache, you will have to solve four puzzles. The first three will give you the three points, the fourth will have you calculate the location of the final.

Puzzle One - Letterboxing!

-Start at the feet of our friend Edsel.
-From here, you have my Assurance that you will know the right way to go.
-Walk until you see an establishment that was founded in 1920. It will be to your left.
-Take note of its street address.
-Turn on to the road just past this establishment. You should be wandering away from the home of the Wanderers.
-Along this street, you should see five words in a very Taoiseach-friendly tongue. You will need the digital root for these five words together, not individually. For the sake of simplicity, just use the English alphabet.
-Continue on until you see a reference to an early Bytown pub.
-Turn so that the home of the Creamery Kings is to your left.
-One block later, turn towards a tower that resembles a mitre.
-Cross the street both ways. Again, you have my Assurance that you'll know when.
-In what year was Regulation 17 passed?
-Continue on.
-What is the date on the 'Our Lady's School' stone?
-Go to where two Taoiseach-Friendly saints meet. What colour are the doors? You will need the digital root of this word.
-Cross the saintly street.
-What is the street number of this park?
-Turn again towards the home of the Creamery Kings.
-At the first intersection, cross to the southeast corner. What is the 'plus' number on the nearby bus sign? Add 1110 to this number.
-Cross the street diagonally.
-Once on the other side, turn so that the home of the Maroons is to your right.
-There will be an 'Award of Excellence' to your left. In what year was this building completed?
-At the next occasion to do so, turn to the west.
-Turn towards the traffic lights.
-Turn right at the traffic lights.
-Find Flavien Rochon's house. What is the street number?
-Closer to the front of the building he is most famous for working on, you will find what once graced the roof of the chapel in Notre Dame cemetery.
-Waypoint this thing. It is the first point.

Puzzle Two - The Search.

On the campus of the University of Ottawa, there is a piece of public art that brings to mind Yr Eisteddfod.

This thing is the second point.

Puzzle Three - Where am I?

Where's the third point? You tell me! I'm standing at it in the picture below.

Puzzle Four - The Annoying Calculations

To figure out the location of the final cache, you must first find the midpoint between the first and second points, call this midpoint A. Then find the midpoint between midpoint A and the third point. Call this midpoint B.

You should have collected nine numbers during your walk through Edsel's neighbourhood. Subtract 2849 from this number to get the distance in yards from midpoint B to the final. The bearing is 117.88 degrees. I recommend using third party projection software, but if you insist on using your GPS, 117.88 degrees is very nearly 2096 mils, and that should get you close.

Best of luck - I think you'll need it
