After a bit of exploring through overgrown paths from the parking area I happened to find something in the woods that struck me as being out of place. This turned out to be a connector, if you will, that formerly bridged the gap between Montrose Point and Georges Island. Although no longer attached, the old connector remains, and I thought it interesting to place a cache here in memory of what used to be, and how nature always reclaims itself over time.
If in fact you would like to continue from this cache to George's Island on foot, follow the connector to Montrose Point Road and turn right. Continue to the Dead End and on the right side of the fence is the abandoned road, which is also the white-blazed trail through George's west side.
