Geocache Description:

CHURCH

Its very easy to drive right past. If you miss the sign or haven't been there before there is very little from the road that would suggest that a beautiful church lies hidden in the pines. "Our Lady of the Pines"was built in 1958 to honor Peter Milkint's parents. The diminutive sanctuary is complete with stained glass, stations of the cross and a magnificent altar. It is truly a spiritual experience to speak to God from the small pews.

The church grounds are open to the public daily (weather permitting) from dawn to dusk. Some 30,000 visitors sign the guest book yearly. With deep respect the cache is hidden at an appropriate distance from the church.

I have enjoyed stopping here on every visit to Canaan Valley over the past twenty-some years. While the sign on 219 has been recently updated, the old sign merely stated 'Smallest Church in 48 States" While this statement may be open to some debate, the beauty and serenity of 'Our Lady of the Pines' is indisputable.
