SideTracked - Stourbridge Junction Traditional Geocache
gr8.ape: Apparently this cache has recently been difficult to open. I have been unable to maintain my caches since Friday 3rd December 2021. This is due to medical issues which have been resolved, but I will be mainly immobile until at least Friday 7th January 2022.

History
The station was opened in 1852 on the Oxford, Worcester, and Wolverhampton railway line. The station was originally named Stourbridge. The junction was created when the Stourbridge Railway built their line to Lye and beyond. A double junction was created when a goods branch line to Stourbridge Town was built in October 1879. The branch line to Stourbridge Town is now a passenger line with two Perry People Movers (PPM) Class 139. The PPM’s carry 20 – 25 seated passengers, and 30 – 35 standing passengers. Roundabout school time it is usually full. One PPM is in the shed at Stourbridge Junction as a reserve, or for maintenance, while the other is in use on the branch line. The PPM is a one car engine, locally referred to as Dinky Toys, and they are fun to ride on. Stourbridge Junction railway station (3 – character code SBJ) is on the Birmingham, Worcester, and Kidderminster line, and was until boundary changes, in Worcestershire. As you enter the station by the drive way, there is a cast iron boundary marker on the left, with the wording ‘Great Western Railway Cos’ round the upper face, and ‘Boundary 1914’ across the centre upper face (at least it looks like 1914).
Services
Managed by London Midland, with some services managed by Chiltern Railway, Stourbridge Junction has frequent services on the main line. The branch line to Stourbridge Town has a regular service, with trains every ten minutes, except between 2 pm and 2:30 pm. Perhaps this is lunch time.
About the Cache – The original cache has been muggled five times. This is a cache replacing two previous caches, placed a short distance away.
