Helppo peruskätkö Kihniön Pyhäniemessä / Easy traditional cache in Pyhäniemi, Kihniö
Tämä kätkö on perustettu vuonna 2010 Kihniön 90-vuotismerkkipäivän kunniaksi. Pyhäniemi sijaitsee Kankarinjärvellä, n. 4 km päässä Kihniön keskustasta. Noin kilometrin pituinen niemi on paitsi merkittävä harjumuodostelma, myös paikallishistoriallisesti tärkeä alue. Tutkimusten mukaan alueella on ollut asutusta kivikaudella. Tarinat kertovat, että aikoinaan jättiläinen nimeltään Hursti-Ukko synnytti niemen kantaessaan vuotavaa hiekkasäkkiä järven yli. Niemi on ollut kautta aikojen merkittävä, nimensä mukainen pyhä paikka. Sitä kaavailtiin viime vuosisadan alussa myös Kihniön kirkon sijaintipaikaksi, vaikka kirkko lopulta päätyikin keskustaan. Niemi on ollut maallisempienkin suunnitelmien kohteena, kun Keihäsmatkoistaan tunnettu Kalevi Keihänen omisti Pyhäniemen alueen 1970-luvulla. Keihäsen lennokkaisiin suunnitelmiin kuului mm. perustaa Pyhäniemeen lentokenttä ja nudistiranta. Nämä suunnitelmat eivät kuitenkaan toteutuneet, mutta erinomainen uimaranta Pyhäniemessä nykyisinkin on. Lisäksi lähellä on ravintola Pyhäniemi sekä vuokramökkejä. Vuonna 2020 Kihniö täytti 100 vuotta. Toivotamme pitkää ikää satavuotiaalle ja onnea myös seuraavalle sadalle vuodelle :) ------------------ This cache has been placed for the honor of Kihniö's 90th birthday. Pyhäniemi-cape is located near Lake Kankari, about 4 kilometers from the centre of Kihniö. The cape, which is around one kilometer long, is significant as an esker, in accordance that it is an important local historical area. According to research, there has been a stone age dwelling site in Pyhäniemi. A story tells that the cape was formed when a giant called 'Hursti-Ukko' hauled a huge sandbag over the lake and the bag leaked along the way. Through the ages, the cape has been a holy place. In the early 1900's, it was planned to be also the site of the church which, however, eventually was built in the Kihniö centre. The cape has also been the subject of more secular plans, when Kalevi Keihänen (known especially for his travel agency 'Keihäsmatkat') owned Pyhäniemi in 1970s. To his vivid plans included for example to establish there an airport and a nudist beach. These plans didn't come true but there is still an excellent beach in Pyhäniemi nowadays. There is also nearby Restaurant Pyhäniemi and rentable cottages. In the year 2020 the municipality of Kihniö celebrated its 100th anniversary.
