Formally - Driven Crazy in Claydon - Camo Cache 2 - but now part of
the Church Micro Series.
The second in a series of Cunning Camouflaged Caches... each hand
crafted and hopefully getting harder as I go along. This one takes
you to the church of St Peter in Claydon. The route to the cache
gets bumpy and narrow so probably not suitable for buggys and
wheelchairs. (Watch out for dog walkers and children and please
reseal cache properly so no losses occur).
Church of St. Peter, Claydon in different lights
The caches in this series so far are:
Church Micro 1424 - Camo Cache 1 : Driven Barmy in Barham.
Church Micro 1423 - Camo Cache 2 : Driven Crazy in Claydon.
The cache is a simple offset, (two stage multi), as I have found it
easier to get them published if they are outside the church
grounds.
There are parking spaces at 52° 06.383 E 001° 7.160, opposite the
entrance to the church, on a gravel hard standing.
The listed co-ordinates are for the memorial to a number of members
of the Miller family.
You will need to read the inscriptions on the stone memorial in
order to
gather the simple information required for the off-set cache
location.

SOME INFO:
The church, one of the few pre-Norman churches in Suffolk, is
located at the top of a hill in the village of Claydon. St Peter's
is no longer used for regular worship but is in the care of the
Churches Conservation Trust. In the churchyard you will find
ancient Wooden crosses marking graves, headstones dating back to
the 16th Century and probably before and some very novel decorative
headstones and ornaments. I found a gnome mole whilst placing the
cache. The Church has an unusual history I would recommend reading
about it at "http://www.suffolkchurches.co.uk/claydon.htm" before
you visit.
If you are in need of any refreshments, the Crown Public House at
the Claydon end of Church Lane is open and serves food/drink for
most of the day. You could also use the pub carpark and have a
drink there after you walk up the hill.
If anyone would like to expand this Church Micro numbered series
please do. Please contact sadexploration via
www.geocaching.com so that he can keep track of the church numbers
and names to avoid duplication.
