Fontaine de Saint Caprais à Yvoy-le-Marron autrefois nommé Yvoy-le-Galeux
D’après le grand livre des Saints il y a deux Saint Caprais.
L’un, Apôtre d’Agen, fut considéré comme le 1er évêque de ce diocèse. Il se réfugia dans une grotte pour échapper à la persécution de Maximien mais honteux devant le martyre courageux de la petite Sainte Foy de 12 ans, il se présenta au procureur Dacien, confessa sa foi et fut décapité vers 290.
Le second ; Saint Caprais de Lérins, directeur spirituel de Saint Honorat, assista ce dernier dans la fondation du monastère de Lérins vers 390, il mourut en 430. Le saint de Lérins est invoqué contre les rhumatismes.
Lequel des deux saints soignaient la gale à Yvoy ? et lui valut pendant longtemps de s’appeler Yvoy-le-Galeux.
Louis de la Saussaye écrit dans son journal en 1830 : « Les traces du culte des eaux aux temps antiques subsistent encore dans la vénération que l’on a pour la fontaine de Saint-Caprais qui surgit près du village et dans les eaux de laquelle on trouve un remède assuré dit-on contre la gale, en s’y plongeant et en y puisant pour boire habituellement. ……. le curé actuel ne croit pas aux vertus de la source et n’en recommande pas l’usage, il le défend même, m’a-t-on dit, au grand scandale des gens du pays. Cette croyance que Saint Caprais peut guérir la gale doit tenir à quelque circonstance de sa légende que j’ignore et on ne sait presque rien sur le patron d’Yvoy qui passe pour avoir été abbé de lérins vers le commencement du Ve siècle »

Fountain St. Caprais Yvoy-le-Marron once called Yvoy-le-Galeux.
According to the ledger there are two Holy Saints Caprais.
