Les étangs de la Jemaye sont des étangs artificiels façonnés au moyen-âge par les moines peuplant les abbayes de la Double.
Le site abrite sur le plan faune entre autre une population de Cistudes d’Europe, tortue classée en espèce vulnérable, le Pic Mar, espèce forestière qui n’est présente en région Aquitaine qu’en Dordogne. Enfin, la présence probable du Vison d’Europe ajoute à l’intérêt de la zone.
Ce site est géré par le conseil général de la Dordogne.
The ponds of La Jemaye are worked artificial ponds with the Middle Ages by the monks populating the abbeys of the Double.
The site amongst other things shelters on the fauna plan a population of Cistudes d' Europe, tortoise classified in vulnerable species, the Peak Mar, forest species which is present in Aquitaine area only in the Dordogne. Lastly, the probable presence of Mink of Europe adds to the interest of the zone. This site is managed by the council general of the Dordogne.
