Rupert and
Friends – Algy Pug 2
This is the third in a series of caches named afer
the famous Rupert Bear characters. Algy Pug was originally a multi cache, but
due to the constant disappearance of the first stage micro it has
been reborn as a conventional cache. All of the Rupert and Friends
series of caches can be found in Allesley Park,
Coventry.
History of the park
The park was originally a deer park in the 13 century
when it was first enclosed around the remains of a Norman 'Motte
and Bailey' castle. The park which formed the grounds of Allesley
Hall (now a residential home) enjoys a wealth of mature trees and
shrubs and contains a walled garden, which is maintained as a
Georgian kitchen garden by a local voluntary group. The walled
garden is currently being restored to the days when it supplied
fruit and vegetables for the hall's owners and servants. Walled
garden volunteers organise educational events and activities in the
garden to celebrate its history.
There is an active Friends Group.
