Geocache Description:

This cache is the "gateway" cache to the other hides in this great hiking area! Bring your dog out for a walk! As a plus, the trails here are very well maintained and many of them are even paved!

This area was once part of the grand IBM country club. It served the families of the employees of one of the largest employers in this area, IBM, which had it's roots firmly planted here. Alas, those halcyon days are past, but you can take advantage of the "wild" areas which were preserved by IBM during it's heyday.
This preserve is now part of the Waterman Conservation Center. They maintain the trails back in here extremely well....in fact much of the paved road system, from when you could drive this area (if you were an IBM employee), is still open and passable, so the walking is easy. Bring your dog (on leash, of course) and after nabbing this hide, take a nice walk to do the several other caches in "The Glen".

Along your way, look at the signage for the cars which used to drive here. Note the old fireplaces for the picnic areas and even an old stone arch bridge near the oldest virtual cache in New York, called "Andrea's Charm"
