Geocache Description:

Blidinje Nature Park is a nice and long valley, near Jablanica. The valley is surrounded with the Cvrsnica and the Vran mountains, both are over 2.000 m. In the southern end of the valley there is the relatively big Blidinje-lake. There are well-marked paths on the mountains and I’d like to show you one of them. Plocno (2228 m) is the highest peak in Cvrsnica mountain, it’s dramatic north face can be seen from the valley and it’s the symbol of the Park. How to get there: In Jablanica turn to the west from the M-16-2 Bugojno-Mostar main road, N43° 39,841’ E017° 45,560’ and drive about 23 km to the Park. After 19 km the road becomes unpaved, don’t worry, it will be better after the entrance of the Park. In the Park just go ahead, and find a road-crossing to the direction of Masna Luka. Turn east on that unpaved road, follow the signs to Masna Luka and park your car at N43° 37,862’ E017° 32,765’, this is the parking place of Masna Luka monastery. The hike starts at the parking place, find the big table near the fence of the monastery and follow the red and white signs up to Plocno. The path goes close to one of the Blidinje Trilogy caches, don’t forget to take it and the rest 2 caches as well. The path can be followed easily, it is clear and well marked. No danger of mines. On the peak there is a small military base, the sign of the peak is behind the building. You can go there freely, the soldiers are friendly, you can get peak-stamp from them. The cache is 15 min walk from the peak, on another peak, from where you can see the beautiful north face of Plocno. The cache is hidden by rocks, look for the sign. The hike takes about 8-9 hours up and down, there is no water on the way. There is a motel with 30 rooms and with good, authentic restaurant in the middle of the valley, right on the road, called Hajducke Vrleti. I spent a night there, everything was OK.
