Sotkamon kirkonkylällä sijaitseva Siltasaari on entinen hautasaari. Muinaisen hautaperinteen mukaan hautapaikat olivat saaressa. Tapa muuttui vasta kirkon rakentamisen yhteydessä. Lisäksi mm. suurina kuolonvuosina 1860-luvulla saaressa säilytettiin ruumiita.
Saaren alkuperäinen nimi, Raatosaari, muutettiin Siltasaareksi asuinrakentamisen myötä 1940 –luvulla. Samalla saari liitettiin Akkoniemeen maakannaksella.
Alue koostuu 20 tontista, yhteisestä vene- ja uimarannasta, urheilukentästä, ympyrän muotoisesta kokoajatiestä ja saaren ympäri kiertävästä vihervyöhykkeestä.
Rakennuskanta muodostuu puolitoistakerroksista lasikuistein varustetuista asunnoista. Pihojen perällä on varastot. Rakennusten julkisivut ovat lautaa ja katot jyrkkiä. Sotkamossa on vähän näin yhtenäisiä asuinalueita.

Paikkaa kaunis mm. auringonlaskun aikaan, jolloin kannattaa katsella Vuokatille päin. 0,9l:n purkki sisältää login, kynän, teroittimen sekä geopätkille vaihtotavaroita. Ole helläkätinen purkin kanssa. Lapset tarvitsevat aikuisen apua.
Kesäisin autolla tai veneellä pääsee lähelle ja parkkitilaa riittää. Talvella auton saa parkkiin tien varteen, mutta suksilla tai moottorikelkalla kyse on melkein drive-in purkista. Kätkö on talvilöydettävä, muttei ihan pikkukengissä.
Kätkö on tehty perheemme kätköilyn yksivuotispäivän kunniaksi.

Siltasaari is located near Sotkamo center. Siltasaari was an old tomb island. As an ancient tradition the burial site was located on the island until construction of the first church in 1860's.
The island's original name, Raatosaari, was changed to Siltasaari during residental construction in 1940's. Island was attached to Akkoniemi with neck of land.
Siltasaari consists of 20 plots, a common pier, a swimming beach, a circle-shaped street and from the green belt surrounding the island.
The building consists of one and a half storey apartments with glass porch. Each yard has a warehouse in the rear of the plot. Buildings are covered with wood and the roofs are steep. In Sotkamo there isn't many this homogeneous residential areas.

We recommend you to visit the place at sunset when the scenery is most beautiful upwards Vuokatti. 0.9 liter cache contains the logbook, pencil, pencil sharpener, and some goods to exchange by childrens. Please, handle container with caution. Childrens need help from a adult to access the cache.
In summer you can come ex. by car or boat. There is plenty of room for parking. In winter car can be parked along the road, but with skis or a snowmobile cache is almost drive-in.
The cache is hidden in our familiy 1-year anniversary day of geocaching.
