Geocache Description:

This cache is a 1/4 mile or a little more hike out the Gerard Hiking trail. Terrain can be steep at times but with the short distance it should be doable by most folks. Hide is placed with permission of The Oil Creek State Park

Please take the steps up to the trail and stay off the train tracks.

If you park at the bridge on Miller farm road you will have the shorter hike or you could park at the north or south end of the trail and take a longer walk.

As you walk towards the cache you will go right past a cemetery and then up the ridge that has a very steep drop off on either side of it so please keep an eye on the little ones if you have any with you. On one side the drop off descends into the beautiful Pennsylvania forest that fills most of the region. On the other side at times you will be able to see Oil Creek and the tracks that the OC & T railway rides upon. There are many wild animals in the area and in the fall the leaves are a site to be seen.

The many miles of trail that make up the Gerard Hiking Trail were created and are maintained by a volunteer organization known as the "Over The Hill Gang". The trail gets it's name from one of the volunteers who passed away before the completion of the project. Make sure to say thanks if you happen to see any of them on the trail doing there thing to make our lives a little more enjoyable.

Along with the cache there is also a "Benchmark" near where you will park and a "Letterbox" on the other side of the bridge. No hints will be given as they should not be needed.
