A quelques pas / marches de la Tour Saint-Michel, la Tour du Castella vous offre son panorama.
Au départ, l'enceinte urbaine comportait plusieurs tours et portes d'entrée. Mais elles ont été détruites les unes après les autres.
Une de ces portes accompagnée de sa tour, la porte de Foix a été démolie par ordre de l’ingénieur de la province. La grand partie des matériaux (dont la cloche et l’horloge) a été réutilisée dans la construction de la tour ronde du Castella.
Cette nouvelle tour a été construite sur l’emplacement de l’ancien donjon féodal qui était de forme quadrangulaire, à partir du mois de mai 1775.

A few steps / stairs from the Tour Saint-Michel, the Castella Tower offers its views.
Initially, the city walls and towers had several gateways. But they were destroyed one after the other.
One of these doors along with its tower, the door of Foix was demolished by order of the engineer of the province. The great part of the materials (including the bell and clock) was reused in the construction of the round tower of Castella.
This new tower was built on the site of the old feudal castle which was of quadrangular shape, from May 1775.
