Santuário de Nossa Senhora dos Verdes Classificada em 1932 como “imóvel de interesse público” (ART.º 25 DO DEC. N.º 20985 DE 7 DE MARÇO DE 1932) e considerada uma das mais ricas do concelho. Esta capela construída no séc. 17 foi restaurada em 1959 com decorações de talha e pintura. O altar é em talha dourada e nos tectos encontra-se muita iconografia em caixotões. A Senhora dos Verdes, segundo o povo, protege os frutos e as sementeiras e em 1720, após ser invocada, pôs fim a uma devastadora invasão de gafanhotos. Descrição Na estrada entre Forninhos e Valagotes, numa chã rodeada de pinhal, com um antigo cruzeiro junto ao templo, ergue-se a linda Capela de Nossa Senhora dos Verdes, advogada dos frutos e das sementeiras. Trata-se de um dos locais de maior religiosidade de todo o concelho, acorrendo aqui romarias de várias localidades. Trata-se de uma capela de invocação mariana, muito da devoção destas gentes. O povo roga à Senhora que vele sobre os renovos agrícolas e os defenda das pragas, das trovoadas e coriscos. São realizadas duas festas anuais: na Segunda Feira de Espírito Santo e no dia 15 de Agosto, partindo a procissão da igreja matriz. O tecto da capela está revestido de caixotões, retratando a vida de Jesus bem como de alguns santos. Nos altares, de estilo barroco, a talha dourada embeleza de forma única a venerada imagem. Reza a História Em tempos remotos, parece ter havido uma devastadora invasão de gafanhotos que cobriu os campos e destruiu as culturas de toda a região. Foi então que os povos recorram à Virgem, vendo resultar o desaparecimento da maldita praga. A história deste acontecimento está perpetuada num quadro que se encontrava numa das paredes laterais. Devido aos inúmeros assaltos de que tem sido alvo a capela, entendeu-se que se deveria retirar o quadro desta, devido ao seu incalculável valor. O quadro tem a seguinte inscrição na parte inferior: MILAGRE QVE FES N.S. DOS VERDES EM AS SEARAS DESTRVIDAS DOS BICHOS E FAZENDO HVA MVI DEVOTA PROCIÇAM OS MORADORES CIRCVM VEZINHOS, FOI NOSSA SENHORA SERVIDA QVE SE APLACASSE ESTA PRAGA. ERA DE 1720. Miradouro Cabeço do Gato Se continuar a estrada em direcção a Valagotes, a menos de 1 Km encontrará à esquerda Parque de Merendas e o Miradouro Cabeço de Gato onde terá uma vista magnífica sobre Forninhos, Dornelas e a Serras envolventes. Nota: As únicas vezes que encontrará o Santuário aberto para ter acesso ao seu interior será na altura em que se realizam as suas festas (referido acima). No entanto devido à grande afluência de pessoas nessas alturas e devido à localização da cache, não será possível encontrá-la com descrição. Nos restantes dias do ano o local encontra-se sem pessoas.
Sanctuary of “Senhora dos Verdes” (Lady of the Greens) Ranked in 1932 as "property of public interest" and considered one of the richest in the county. This chapel built in the century 17 was restored in 1959 with decorations by carving and painting. The altar is gilded and the ceiling is a lot of iconography in caissons. The “Senhora dos Verdes” according to the people, protects the fruit and the seed and in 1720, after being invoked, ended a devastating invasion of locusts. Description On the road between “Forninhos” and “Valagotes” in a tea surrounded by pine forest, with a cruise along the ancient temple, stands the beautiful Chapel of “Senhora dos Verdes”, a lawyer for fruit and seed. This is one of the greatest religious sites around the county, hurrying here pilgrimages to various locations. This is a chapel of Marian invocation, much of the devotion of these people. The people pray to Lady to watch over the shoots and defends agricultural pest, the thunder and lightning. Due to the numerous robberies that have been subject to the chapel, it was felt that it should withdraw this framework because of its incalculable value. The table has the following inscription at the bottom: MILAGRE QVE FES N.S. DOS VERDES EM AS SEARAS DESTRVIDAS DOS BICHOS E FAZENDO HVA MVI DEVOTA PROCIÇAM OS MORADORES CIRCVM VEZINHOS, FOI NOSSA SENHORA SERVIDA QVE SE APLACASSE ESTA PRAGA. ERA DE 1720. Miradouro Cabeço do Gato (high spot with a magnificent view) If you continue the road towards “Valagotes”, less than 1 km on the left you will find the “Parque de Merendas” (place to make pic-nick’s) and “Miradouro Cabeço do Gato” where you have a view of “Forninhos”, “Dornelas” and surrounding hills. Note: The only times you will find the Sanctuary open for access to its interior at the time it will take place for your festivals (mentioned above). However due to the large turnout of people at those times and because of the location of the cache, you cannot find it without peoples see. In the remaining days of the year the place is without people. A cache: A cache encontra-se envolta num saco de plástico preto para favorecer a sua camuflagem e protecção às intempéries. The cache: The cache is shrouded in a black plastic bag to encourage their camouflage and protection to the elements. It contains a logbook, a pen and some exchange items. PLEASE: make sure that the camouflage was quite safe when to put back.
