The Icehouse is the only dual-rink facility in Australia and
contains two Olympic sized ice skating rinks, offering learn to
skate, figure skating, ice hockey and curling lessons for beginners
as well as general skating sessions for all groups of people.
It is also the home of Melbourne Ice the only Victorian based
team competing in the Australian Ice Hockey League. (They're
actually not doing too badly in the 2010 competition too!) Visit Melbourne Ice
Homepage.
I was introduced to ice hockey through the Mighty Ducks movies
and attended my first game in May. (I am however no ice swan and
will leave that up to the experts!)
Also in the local vicinity is the remains of the Southern Star
Observation Wheel which has no definite date of completion. There
are also many shops and restaurants if you want to come here and
make a day of it.
