-------------------- The Boulder Garden of Raben-Steinfeld
Die nördliche Landschaft Mecklenburg-Vorpommerns wurde durch die Gletscher der jüngsten nordeuropäischen Inlandvereisung, der Weichsel-Eiszeit geformt.
Der Außenrand dieser letzten großen Vereisung verlief vor etwa 20.000 Jahren quer durch Raben-Steinfeld und hinterließ hier eine steinreiche Endmoränen.Dieser Steingarten befindet sich auf solch einem Endmoränenhügel.
Alle Findlinge stammen entweder von der Trasse der Autobahn A14 oder aus den Kiesgruben der Region. Als Zeugen der Eiszeit repräsentieren sie die vielfältige Gesteinswelt Skandinaviens und des Ostseegrundes.
Die Findlinge sind nach vier Gesteinsgruppen geordnet: Plutonide - Vulkanite - Metamorphite - Sedimentite
Man kann direkt an den Findlingsgarten heranfahren, auch Rollstuhlfahrer sind hier endlich einmal in der Lage, diese gewaltigen Zeugen der Erdgeschichte aus nächster Nähe zu betrachten. Bebilderte Infotafeln liefern hervorragende Informationen. Vor jedem Findling gibt ein Schild Auskunft über Gesteinsart, Herkunft, Alter und Fundort.
Ein Foto von Euch und/oder GPS auf der "Steinernen Bank" (siehe Beispielfoto) ist Logbedingung!
Um den Cache zu loggen, beantwortet bitte folgende Fragen: (Alle Antworten sind vor Ort zu finden)

3. Wieviele Findlinge sind hier insgesamt ausgestellt?

The northern districts of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern were formed by the Glaciers of the last northern European inland glaciation, the Weichselian ice age.
The border of the last major glaciation about 20,000 years ago, crossed at Raben Steinfeld and left the end-moraines with lots of stones here.
This boulder garden is located on such an end-moraine hill.
All boulders originate from the road construction of the A14 motorway or from the Gravel pits in the region. As witnesses of the Ice Age, they represent the varied Rock world of Scandinavia and the grond of the Baltic Sea.
The boulders are arranged in four groups of rocks: Plutonide - Volcanic Rocks - Metamorphic - Sedimentite
You can drive up directly to the boulder garden. Wheelchair users are also able to have a closely look at this tremendous history of our beautiful earth.
Illustrated information panels provide excellent informations. In front of each boulder is a signpost information on rock type, origin, age and locality.
A photo of you with/or GPS at the "Stone Bench" (see example photo) is a must have!
