A Serra de Gavinhos situa-se na freguesia de Figueira de Lorvão, concelho de Penacova. É o ex-libris da freguesia, motivo de orgulho das gentes destas terras. Para além da bonita paisagem para a Serra do Buçaco (a norte) e para a Serra da Aveleira (a Sudoeste), contém um complexo de moinhos de vento.
Os moinhos de vento fazem parte da cultura do concelho de Penacova. Há muitos anos representavam uma importante fonte de riqueza e subsistência da população.
Neste complexo ainda há um moinho a funcionar, o moinho do sr. Lino, um dos últimos moleiros, que pode ser visitado caso o sr. Lino esteja a trabalhar aquando da vossa visita.
Perto do local existe também um pequeno campo de futebol, mesas de piquenique, uma torneira, grelhadores, um bar aberto apenas aos fins de semana e um parque infantil. É assim um local onde podem passar uns agradáveis momentos em família ou com os amigos.
Do local avista-se ainda outro complexo de moinhos, na Portela de Oliveira, onde também existe uma cache: Cabeça de Vento [Penacova].
The Mountain Range of Gavinhos is located on the village of Figueira de Lorvão, in Penacova county. It is the ex-libris of the local, a source of pride of the people of these lands. Besides the beautiful scenery of the Mountain Range of Buçaco (north) and the Mountain Range of Aveleira (southwest), it contains a complex of windmills.
The windmills are part of the culture of the county of Penacova. Many years ago they were a major source of richness and livelihood of the population.
In this complex there is still a working windmill, the windmill of Mr. Lino, one of the last millers, which can be visited if Mr. Lino is working at the time of your visit.
Near the site there is also a small soccer field, picnic tables, a faucet, grills, a bar open only on weekends and a children playground. It is a venue where you can spend some pleasant moments with family or friends.
From here you can see yet another complex of windmills, in Portela de Oliveira, where there is also a cache: Cabeça de Vento [Penacova].
A CACHE
O acesso à cache pode ser feito de carro. No local indicado pelas coordenadas encontrarão uma micro com indicação do local final da cache.
A cache é de tamanho regular e encontra-se a menos de 300 metros do primeiro ponto. Levem roupa e calçado confortável, será necessário algum cuidado para chegar ao local da cache. Tirem fotos da paisagem, apreciem o local e deixem tudo tal como encontraram ou melhor.
Realizar esta cache de noite não é aconselhável pois não só perdem as vistas como correrão o risco de queda. Se estiver a chover o terreno também fica um pouco mais complicado por ser escorregadio.
Última manutenção: 23/04/2023. Por favor não leve a caneta consigo e deixe a cache tal como a encontrou, devidamente tapada e não à vista!!
THE CACHE
The cache access can be done by car. At the location indicated by the coordinates you will find a micro with information of the location of the final cache.
The cache size is regular and it is on less than 300 meters from the first point. Take comfortable clothes and shoes, you will need some care to get to the local of the cache. Take pictures of the landscape, enjoy the site and leave everything as found or better.
To accomplish this cache at night is not advisable because it not only lose the sights, as you risk falling. If it is raining the ground is also a bit more complicated because it is slippery.
