Geocache Description:

A new set of caches on the Jessup trail, leading up to Schunemunk Mountain.

********PARKING NOTICE: UPDATE********
The new Gonzaga county park on Seven Springs Road is now open, including trail access to the Jessup, HighLands, and Long Path trails. The gate at the start of Seven Springs Road should be open during the day. If not, you can park at the gate, just be sure not to block the gate and leave a "hiking" sign in your windshield. You can park at Gonzaga during the day, but keep in mind the potential of getting locked in if you return to your car late in the day.
*************************************

The Jessup trail is part of the Schunemunk state park trail system. This particular trail leads southwest out of the park into the towns of Woodbury and Blooming Grove. This trail also doubles as the Highlands Trail and the newly re-routed Long Path, as they make their way through Orange County. The county has given permission for the trail to pass through this section. I doubled checked with the New York / New Jersey Trail Conference to ensure that this is correct.
You will be following both the yellow bar markings of the Jessup trail, as well as the teal diamonds of the Highlands trail and the green markings of the Long Path. After leaving the road, there will be a brief climb up the mountain side. Most of the trail follows the ridge line of Schunemunk Mountain, an enjoyable but not too strenuous hike. It is 3.5 miles one way from the gate to the cluster of satellite/cell phone towers on the mountain. From the towers, it is an additional 0.6 miles to GC1Q6AA, Don’t Be Such A Pitch!, further up the mountain.

Please be warned that rattlesnakes have been spotted on this trail.

Jessup's Walk in the Woods is along the incline leading up to the ridge. You can rest here, but the adventure has just started! Cache is a small lock-n-lock, with log and a few trinkets.
