Les premiers habitants de Sillans furent des dinosaures il y a de cela -69 millions d'années, des œufs ont été retrouvés lors de récentes fouilles.
Actuellement le village a gardé son aspect médiéval particulier, resserré sur lui-même. Des remparts imposants, datant du XI^ème siècle, sont encore bien visibles avec tours et créneaux.
L’église St Étienne de Sillans est placée à côté du village, les reliques de Saint Étienne y sont conservées, martyr dont la fête se célèbre le 3 août. Elle a succédé à une ancienne église dédiée à Saint Laurent, qui paraît en 1079 dans une bulle du Pape Grégoire VI. Elle a été remaniée aux XVI^ème et XIX^ème siècles.
Sillans fut un village à trois châteaux : le premier, médiéval, (XI^ème siècle) fut ruiné à la fin du Moyen Age. Le second, édifié au XVII^ème siècle dans son voisinage, fut détruit à la Révolution. Le troisième, construit dans les premières années du XIX^ème siècle au milieu d'un parc arboré, domine le village de sa masse imposante. Il a été racheté et restauré par la municipalité qui en a fait entre autres, sa mairie.
La rivière Bresque, grossie par la belle source du château de St Jean et le torrent de la Merderie, descendu du château de Fabrègue prend sa source à Fox-Amphoux. Elle forme après un contour du village de Sillans, une cascade haute de 44 mètres, a voire absolument.
Une petite balade improvisée avec waypoints de P1 à P6 vous permettra de visiter le village de Sillans, et surtout ses magnifiques remparts et tours en cours de restauration, n'hésitez pas à entrer dans la ruelle ''Rue Vieille'', c'est un joli raccourci pour rejoindre la cache.

The first Sillans's inhabitants were dinosaurs there this -69,000,000 years, eggs have been found during recent excavations.
Currently the village has kept its medieval appearance particularly tight on itself. Imposing ramparts, dating from the XIth century, are still visible with towers and battlements.
The church of St Étienne is placed beside the village, the relics of St. Stephen are preserved, martyr whose feast day is August 3. It succeeded an ancient church dedicated to St. Lawrence, which appeared in 1079 in a bull of Pope Gregory VI. It was rebuilt in the sixteenth and XIXth centuries.
Sillans was a village with three castles: the first, medieval (XIth century) was destroyed in the late Middle Ages. The second, built in XVIIth century in his neighborhood, was destroyed during the French Revolution. A third, built in the early years of the nineteenth century in the middle of a park, overlooking the village of its imposing mass. He was bought and restored by the municipality which has among others, his mayoralty.
Bresque River, swollen by the beautiful spring of the castle of St. Jean and the torrent of Merderie, down from Castle Fabrègue rises at Fox-Amphoux. It forms an edge of the village after Sillans, a 44 meters high waterfall, to see absolutely.
A stroll improvised with waypoints P1 to P6 you can visit the village of Sillans, and especially its magnificent towers and ramparts being restored, please enter the alley ''Vieille Rue''it is a nice shortcut to reach the cache.
