Bâti sur
l'emplacement d'une source, ce lavoir au bassin octogonal donne une
idée de la profondeur des puits de la citadelle d'Hattonchâtel qui
descendent à ce même niveau géologique.
Il est construit en 1924 pour remplacer le précédent,
détruit pendant la guerre et sert à tout le village jusqu'à la
construction du lavoir "Skinner".
Il s'élève le long du chemin des Romains qui reliait Hattonchâtel à
Vigneulles avant le traçage de la route moderne et qui est un
tronçon subsistant d'une importante voie romaine.
Une aire de pique-nique y est aménagée.
Built on the place
of a spring, this washhouse with an octagonal pond gives an idea
about the depth of the wells to the Hattonchâtel citadel which come
down at the same geologic level.
It was built in 1924 to replace the precedent one,
destroyed during the war and it is used by all the village until
the construction of the "Skinner" washhouse.
It rises along the road of Romain which connected Hattonchâtel with
Vigneulles before the drawing of the modern road and which is a
remaining section of an important Roman way.
A picnic area is fitted out there.
