Die Schallmauer wird durchbrochen wenn man schneller als 1225 km/h in Meereshöhe unterwegs ist. Die Begleiterscheinungen eines Schallmauerdurchbruches kann man durchaus als spektakulär bezeichnen. Optisch kommt es zum Wolkenscheibeneffekt und arkustisch gibt es den Überschalknall, der schon Fenster zersplittern ließ und ältere Gebäude zum Einsturz brachte.

Diese Schallmauer meine ich aber nicht. Die „Schallmauer“ die ich meine ist eher unter der Begriff Lärmschutzwand bekannt. Ich vertrete aber den Standpunkt es ist eine Mauer, Lärm ist eine Form von Schall, also kann man ruhig Schallmauer dazu sagen ;)
Diese Schallmauern die ich meine sind nicht gerade schön, sie sind nicht beliebt aber sie haben ca. 112.000 Menschen das Leben nahe einer Autobahn etwas erträglicher gemacht.
Derzeit gibt es in Österreich auf einer Länge von 910 km derartige Schallmauerkonstruktionen. Für diese Leistung wurden bis heute 343 Millionen Euro ausgegeben. Die Wände haben eine Gesamtfläche von 2,8 km². Das entspricht etwas mehr als 339 Fußballfelder.
Die Schallmauer um die es mir geht liegt an der A23. Die Süd Ost Tangente ist die meistbefahrene Straße Österreichs und zahlreiche Wienerinnen und Wiener sind froh, dass es diese Schallmauern gibt. Auf der ruhigen Seite dieser Mauer ist der Cache zu finden. Er enthält die größten Lärmproduzenten dieser Gegend. Autos. Um die Geräuschentwicklung niedrig zu halten sollte nach Möglichkeit immer mindestens ein Auto im Cache eingeschlossen werden.
Sekt-, Wein und Kronenkorken gehören meiner Meinung nach in den Mist- und nicht in den Cachekübel. Gleiches gilt für alte Eintrittskarten Werbeprospekte und abgelaufenen Gutscheinhefte.
The sonic barrier is breached if you are faster than 1225 km/h at sea level. You really can call the side effects spectacular. The optical side effect is the appearance of a cloud in form of a plate. The supersonic boom is the spectacular side effect. It can break glass and bring old buildings to collapse.
But that’s not the sonic barrier I meant. The sonic barrier I refer to is better known as noise barrier. I think a barrier is a barrier and noise is form of sonic, so I call it a sonic barrier.
The sound barriers that I refer to are not beautiful, they aren´t liked very much but they made the life of more than 112.000 people better which live next to a highway.

The sonic barrier that is important to me is at the highway A23. The Vienna south east tangent is the most used highway in Austria and many Vienna citizen are happy that this sound barrier exists. You may find the cache at the quiet side of the barrier. Inside are the main noisemakers of this area. Cars. To keep the noise level low there should be at least one car inside the cache.
