Grønt vatn og elvar, høge snøkledde tindefjell og midt i dette panoramaet ligg Jostedalsbreen Nasjonalparksenter. Senteret ligg like ved grensa til nasjonalparken. Det ligg vakkert til ved Strynsvatn som var ein del av fjorden for mange tusen år sidan. Det vakre landskapet av vatnet og fjella kring er som eit levande postkort. Jostedalsbreen Nasjonalparksenter er ei privat stifting med idealistisk formål. Nasjonalparksenteret vart opna 19.juni 1993 av statsminister Gro Harlem Brundtland. Prof. Olav Gjærevoll, verdas første miljøvernminister var senteret sin styreformann frå 1990-1994 og han kom til å prege mykje av innhaldet ved senteret. Hovedbygningen til Jostedalsbreen Nasjonalparksenter er konstruert med stavkonstruksjon som eit vikinghus. Bygningen er omtrent så stor som det største vikinghuset dei har funne tuftene etter i Norge. Arkitekt for bygningen er Stryn Arkitektkontor. I kontrast til det gamle langhuset ligg kinosalen i moderne stil i polert norsk stein. Dette symboliserer møte mellom fortid og framtid: Vi byggjer på fortida for å ta vare på framtida. Jostedalsbreen Nasjonalparksenter er autorisert av Miljøverndepartementet.
Greenwater, high snowcovered mountains- and in the middle Jostedalsbreen National Park Centre. Jostedalsbreen National Park Centre is situated at the national park and beside the lake Strynsvatn, which was a part of the fjords thousands of years ago. The breathtaking landscape, the lake, and the mountains make a fantastic living postcard that you will never forget. Jostedalsbreen National Park Centre is owned by a private foundation based on idealistic objectives. Prime minister Gro Harlem Brundtland officiated at the formal opening of the Centre on June 19, 1993. The main building at the Centre has been constructed in a manner similar to Viking longhouses where pillars rather than the walls are supporting the roof. The Viking longhouse here at Jostedalsbreen National Park Centre has about the size of the biggest longhouse found in Norway. Arcitect is Stryn Arkitektkontor. As a contrast to the old longhouse is the Cinema built in modern style, covered by Norwegian polished stone, Larvikitt. This symbolizes the meeting between the past and the future. Jostedalsbreen National Parc Centre is based on the pasted to care for the future. Jostedalsbreen National Park Centre has been authorized by the Department of Environment to serve as an official national park visitor centre
