After laying The Island, we were just discussing how close we were to the still unfound Forgotten Valley and that perhaps a FTF seeker may like to follow the river up from The Island to this cache instead of coming in from above.

"... because you certainly would want to climb those hills." said mtbikeroz indicating those to the north of The Island.
"I should lay a cache half way up that hill." I said.

Well one thing led to another and a very interesting rock formation was spotted and after a short conversation that ran like this (I'm paraphrasing here):
"I'm game if you are."
"What? Today! Well I'm standing here with 3 more caches in bag and I'm unlikely to return soon. Let's do it!"
We headed off, found a river crossing and began the climb.

Now, while the first two caches in this series can safely be done solo, I strenuously recommend that you do not tackle this cache on your own. The climb is strenuous, and the rocks are not all safe to climb up. Take your time and traverse the slope. GZ is at the top of the formation.

The rocks on this hill are truly amazing, if you are a rock hound. Sedimentary, with very fine layers and mixed in layers of quartz and scatterings of mica.

Once you have found this cache it is really a very short climb to the top then a very flat 700 metre trudge to Forgotten Valley. We didn't do it, so I have no idea what the vegetation is like, but the topographic map showed hardly any more climbing after the 180 metres you have just done.

To do the whole series leave one car at Caloola Farm and then set off from Mt Clear camp ground.
It took us 8.5 hours, including the Max and Bert cache.

Thanks to mtbikeroz for accompanying me on this cache laying expedition.

FTF goes to ZsaZsa7, McPhan and Mrs Winglen
