After
Bobcam found his 15,000th
cache on February 25, 2010, I realized I had missed an
opportunity to place a tribute cache for Minnesota’s most
prolific cache finder. My guilt was aggravated by the fact that the
guy had even hidden some
caches
in
my honor.
I immediately concocted grandiose plans to celebrate Bobcam’s
20K find with a “power trail” of 100+ caches that would
meet Surfer Joe’s strict guidelines.
Well, life happened, and then Bobcam went on a run of cache
finding that was outlandish even by his absurd cache finding
standards. He found his 20,000th cache this past Tuesday, July 6,
2010, and my plans for a power trail hadn’t even gotten off
the ground. This means that he found 5,000 caches in 131 days, a
pace of more than 38 caches per day. And he doesn’t even come
close to caching every day. And he doesn’t choose only the
easiest caches; out-of-the-way, 4.5 star terrain, 5 difficulty
caches do not phase him.
He’ll
rise
to
the
challenge. Oh, and he’s also managed to hide well over
200 caches in his spare time. He's ranked #14 in the
world, despite having started caching in only September
2007.
So, I decided to hide a couple caches in recognition of an
amazing achievement by Minnesota’s
greatest cacher, who is also a really modest, selfless guy who
probably hates the fact that I’m publishing these caches. The
caches are nothing special, but hopefully they’ll help Bobcam
get to his next caching milestone. (No rush to find them,
dude!)
Looks like the grandiose power trail will have to wait until
Bobcam’s 25,000th find. Oh, crap, that will probably happen
by the end of the month. I’d better get cracking.
Congrats on 20K, Bob.
