HWY #40 - Waiparous Area
NORTH GHOST CACHE
This cache was placed near the North Ghost campground in the
Waiparous area (HWY #40 north - west of Cochrane). The campground
is closed in winter, but you can park at the entrance and walk from
there.
We parked at N51 23.790 W115 01.103 and crossed
the bridge, following the river north on the south side. You can
cross at a few places so you could start on either side. If the
campsite is open drive through to the end and look for an ATV track
at N51 23.896 W115 02.225 and follow past the North Ghost Hike
Cache. Follow the river to the old bridge, where the cache is
located. We walked about 1.5 km to the cache but there are shorter
routes.
All in all, a nice walk and we've walked it almost every month of
the year. If there is deep snow, we often walk the river ice as it
is almost always frozen and shallow - but you decide at your own
risk.
