La cache vous conduit dans le cirque du Boundoulaou près de la
grotte du même nom. Attention la visite de cette grotte est
règlementée par un arrêté préfectoral en raison de la présence de
chauves souris dont certaines espèces sont menacées.
Le Boundoulaou est un nom occitan qui désigne un bourdon et plus
généralement un insecte qui bourdonne. C'est donc probablement le
bourdonnement que produit l'eau quand elle cascade, qui aurait
donné son nom à la grotte.
Historique
- Du néolithique moyen jusqu'au V siècle, la grotte fut occupée de
façon continue par l'homme.
- Fin XIX, la grotte fut exploitée pour le guano de chauves-souris,
excellent engrais naturel.
- Après 1945, le Boundoulalou est couramment visité.
- Le 10 septembre 1977, la corniche de l'entrée ouest, accès le
plus évident, est équipée pour mettre un terme à une
impressionnante série d'accidents.
- En 1984, la grotte et le cirque de Boundoulaou sont inventoriés
dans le cadre des ZNIEFF de Midi-Pyrénées.
- Novembre 1987, premier coup d'arrêt au projet de captage du
siphon car il met en danger la colonie de chauves-souris.
Finalement il sera réalisé en extérieur.
- Entre 1987 et 1990, une échelle métallique est installée pour
faciliter l'entrée à la grotte.
La fréquentation humaine est passée de moins de 10 visiteurs / an
avant 1975 à plus de 1000 visiteurs / an dans les années 1989 dont
600 pendant le mois de juillet et d'août!
- En 1990, Nature Aveyron entreprend un comptage mensuel de la
colonie de chauves-souris en compagnie du Spéléo-club des
causses.
- Le 1 juillet 1992, mise en place de l'arrêté de protection de
biotope du Boundoulaou
- 2001-2003 : mise en place d'une procédure pour intégrer "le
cirque et la grotte du Boundoulaou" dans le réseau Natura
2000

The hiding place leads you in the circus of Boundoulaou near the
cave of the same name. Attention the visit of this cave is
regulated by an order of the prefect because of the presence of
bats with which certain sorts are threatened.
Boundoulaou is an Occitan name which indicates(appoints) a
bumblebee and more generally an insect which buzzs. It is thus
probably the humming which produces the water when it cascades,
which would have given its name to the cave.
History
- Of the average Neolithic until V century, the cave was occupied
in a continuous way by the man.
- In the end of the XIXth century, the cave was exploited for the
manure of bats, excellent natural fertilizer.
- After 1945, Boundoulalou is usually visited.
- On September 10th, 1977, the ledge of the West entrance, the most
evident access, is equipped to put an end to an impressive series
of accidents.
- In 1984, the cave and the circus of Boundoulaou are inventoried
within the framework of the ZNIEFF of Midi-Pyrénées.
- In November, 1987, first blow of stop to the project of
