I'm always amazed that areas of woodland like this have survived in the mass of suburban housing that is Newton Mearns. Indeed there is another woodland tract very close to this one through which a burn feeds the one that runs through our location.
Reynard's Glen, as I have christened this area is home to numerous foxes. One fox in particular was very familiar to local residence as he was tailless. We call him Manx, He was very bold and had no fear of humans. I have spotted him on numerous occasions asleep in our front garden. I always know when he is about as both our cats come hurtling through the cat flap and watch him from the safety of the front room. In fact one of our cats failed to make it one day and was nipped on the back leg incurring not insubstantial vets bills !
Manx is not longer with us as he has gone to the great den in the sky. However, we now have son of Manx. We have christened him White Tip as he has a very distictive white tip to his tail.
