Sisimiut (Danish: Holsteinsborg) is a town in central-western Greenland. It is the administrative center of the Qeqqata municipality. With 5,460 inhabitants as of 2010, it is the second-largest town in Greenland. It lies 75 km north of the Arctic Circle and is Greenland's northernmost year-round ice-free port. Sisimiut has been a settlement site for around 4,500 years, with the Inuit - the majority of the present population - arriving around a thousand years ago. Hans Egede, the missionary to Greenland, arrived in 1721 and established his church in the vicinity. (Wikipedia)
